The Women

nūn sīn wāw

l-nisāi, l-nisāa (noun, feminine plural) = the women

mīm rā hamza

im’ra-atun, im’ra-atan (noun, feminine) = a woman

im’ra-atu, im’ra-ata (noun, feminine) = the wife

bā nūn yā

ib’nata (noun, feminine) = the daughter


Surah Ali ‘Imran 42

wa-idh  qālati  l-malāikatu  yāmaryamu  inna  l-laha  iṣ’ṭafāki  waṭahharaki  wa-iṣ’ṭafāki  ʿalā  nisāi   l-ʿālamīna

And [mention] when the angel said, “O Maryam, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds

Surah At-Tahrim 11

waḍaraba  l-lahu  mathalan  lilladhīna  āmanū  im’ra-ata  fir’ʿawna  idh  qālat  rabbi  ib’ni  lī ʿindaka  baytan  fī  l-janati  wanajjinī  min  fir’ʿawna  waʿamalihi  wanajjinī  mina l-qawmi  l-ẓālimīna

And Allah presents an example of those who believed: the wife of Fir’awn, when she said, “My Lord, build for me a house near You in Paradise and save me from Fir’awn and his deeds and save me from the wrongdoing people.”


It was narrated from Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Many men have attained perfection but no women have attained perfection except Maryam the daughter of ‘Imran and Asiyah the wife of Fir’awn. And the superiority of ‘Aishah over other women is like the superiority of Tharid over all other foods.” (Ibn Majah)

Narrated Abu Huraira:  Jibril came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) ! Khadija is coming to you with a dish having meat soup (or some food or drink). When she reaches you, greet her on behalf of her Lord and on my behalf, and give her the glad tidings of having a palace of Qasab in Paradise wherein there will be neither any noise nor any fatigue (trouble) . ”  Sahih al-Bukhari 3820

Narrated Anas [may Allah be pleased with him]:
that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Sufficient for you among the women of mankind are Maryam the daughter of ‘Imran, Khadijah the daughter of Khuwailid, Fatimah the daughter of Muhammad and Asiyah the wife of Fir’awn.” (Jami ‘at Tirmidhi)

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that:
the Prophet said: “The best of you is the one who is best to his wife, and I am the best of you to my wives.” (Ibn Majah)
