The worldly life

dāl nūn wāw
adnā (noun, masculine singular) = less/inferior, more suitable, nearer/nearest
l-adnā = the lower, the nearer
l-dun’yā (feminine, singular) = the world (noun), worldy (adjective)

Surah Ar-Rum 7 :
yaʿlamūna ẓāhiran mina l-ḥayati l-dun’yā wahum ʿani l-ākhirati hum ghāfilūna
They (most of the people) know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware

Surah Al-Baqarah 212 :
zuyyina lilladhīna kafarū l-ḥayatu l-dun’yā wayaskharūna mina alladhīna āmanū wa-alladhīna ittaqaw fawqahum yawma l-qiyāmati wal-lahu yarzuqu man yashāu bighayri ḥisābin
Beautified for those who disbelieve is the life of this world, and they ridicule those who believe. But those who fear Allah are above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives provision to whom He wills without account

Surah Al-Kahf 104 :
alladhīna ḍalla saʿyuhum fī l-ḥayati l-dun’yā wahum yaḥsabūna annahum yuḥ’sinūna ṣun’ʿan
(Disbelievers) are those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work

Surah Taha 72 :
qālū lan nu’thiraka ʿalā mā jāanā mina l-bayināti wa-alladhī faṭaranā fa-iq’ḍi mā anta qāḍin innamā taqḍī hādhihi l-ḥayata l-dun’yā
They (Believers) said, “Never will we prefer you (Fir’aun) over what has come to us of clear proofs and over He who created us. So decree whatever you are to decree. You can only decree for this worldly life.
