Pillar of Islam : Shahada

shīn hā dāl

shahādatan, shahādata (indefinite feminine noun) = testimony
l-shahādata (feminine noun) = the testimony
shahīdan, shahīdun (masculine singular noun) = (a) witness, (the) witness
shahida (verb) = bears witness

Shahada, testimony of faith is the first out of 5 pillars of Islam. By saying shahada, one testifies that he/she bears witness that there is no God except Allah and Muhammad is His slave and messenger.

ash-hadu anla ilaha illa allahu  = I bear witness that there is no God except Allah

wa ash-hadu anna muhamadun ‘abduhu wa rasūluhu = and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and messenger

muḥammadun, muḥammadin = (Prophet) Muhammad pbuh

ʿabdihi (noun) = His (Allah’s) slave
